Madrona Voices is conducting a survey about the Port of Orcas 20-Year Master Plan. If you did not receive an invitation to take the survey and you would like to do so, please contact us so we can send you an invitation. We do the survey by invitation only, as this helps us make sure that the surveys we do are representative of the community and, therefore, scientifically valid. We do not share your personal responses or your email address.
Our past work on the public health district was very accurate. Our survey showed the vote would be within five percentage points of 76% voting for the PHD district. The final vote result was 76% voting for the district.
We do the surveys for several reasons. One is to help provide an unbiased, factual reporting of the facts about an issue. We talk to the people involved in whatever the issue is. We share that information. We also try to put the questions we ask in context so that we might know what the implications of various ideas are. We work hard to make sure that the questions and the possible answers are fair. We ask a number of people to review our work before we send it out. We believe that the various commissions, boards, and councils want to know what the public at large thinks on an issue. Often, they only hear from an organized group that attends their meetings. Sometimes an organized group at these meetings will state that they represent the community. We believe that the survey work we do allows a larger group of people to share their views, and thus also have an opportunity to represent the perspectives of the whole community. We have demonstrated in past surveys that the people who took those surveys are representative of the voters.
We hope that you will participate in this survey we are doing about the Port of Orcas plans.
